As you think about which preamp to buy for your home stereo, what advantages will come with an American-made preamp such as a Backert Labs?
Access. Assuming you are in the U.S., the people who make your preamp are right here:
- Faster and more accessible if you need something sent to you, such as a different pair of tubes that you’d like to check out.
- In your time zone (or near it) and easy to call us, if for example you have a question you’d like to speak with the chief designer about.
- Just a day or two away, from a shipping standpoint.
Reliability, Accountability, and Responsiveness. When a company has most of its customers virtually around the corner, there is a strong incentive to get things *really right* the first time. This is why we take extra steps, like breaking in all of our preamps for at least 8 days, around the clock (192 hours). We don’t want anybody receiving a box on their front porch that contains anything less than a mind-blowing, great-sounding preamp. And if any issues pop up, we want to be “right there” for you.
Listening to You. A preamp made in America means the designers and makers know, socialize with, and listen to the thoughts and desires of customers like you, every day.
Lower cost of transit. It’s easier and more efficient if the unit, or upgrade parts, are coming to you from an address in the United States.
American quality. Literally thousands of decisions go into the manufacture of a high-end tube preamp. With a component made in the U.S., you can have confidence that quality comes first in each one of those decisions.
Keeping America strong. Buying a preamp designed and assembled in the USA keeps the work and the benefits of your investment here in the United States. With each of our preamps, the circuit board is made in the US, and every piece of metal comprising the chassis (that is, everything you touch on the preamp) is designed, machined, finished, and anodized in the US. This goes for all powder coating and the manufacture of the acrylic tube access door as well.
Conclusion. As you can see, in addition to being music lovers, manufacturing Backert Labs preamps here in our Pennsylvania workshop is important to us. We can’t promise that every part inside is made in the US, but we can promise that every bit of research, design, and assembly of our preamps happens here.
