If you are thinking about a Backert Labs linestage preamp, you might wonder what is the best power amp to go with it.
Whether you are considering a tube power amp, or a solid-state amplifier, the answer is, surprisingly, the same: you should simply buy the best power amp that you can afford.
There is no “magic answer” for the power amplifier when it comes to a Backert Labs preamp, because all of our linestage preamps couple very nicely with nearly any power amp you can think of.
The technical reason for this is our low output impedance, which resembles what you would get with many solid-state preamps — in fact, our output impedances are below 80 ohms. This is when measured at the frequencies commonly used for this test. If you measure very-low frequencies like 20 or 30 hz, you will get a higher number of ohms, of course — but still very low for any preamp.
With the kinds of output impedances found in Backert Labs preamps, even the most fussy power amplifiers (meaning, those with unusually low input impedances) will play very happily with our preamps.

Conclusion. We always say, there are many power amplifiers out there in the market that make us smile.
Preamps? Not as many. So your decision on which power amp to buy should be relatively easy.
